It was your typical Friday night, Rich had work all week, so he was very sore. Feeling tired, groggy, and in need of some relaxation, Rich plopped down in his computer chair. He started his venture by Googling random memes, and watching pointless YouTube videos. He also checked his Facebook for a few minutes, before becoming too bored of his usual routine, and seeking something exciting.
It started when, whilst finishing another random YouTube video, he noticed a thumbnail that sparked his interest. The video itself was entitled:
"VID_2981 - DON'T CLICK"
Being a defiant, insubordinate person, Rich clicked on it to 'prove a point'. The video itself wasn't anything special, just a black screen for around 3, or so minutes. The description, however, gave a, seemingly infinite link.
Curiously, he clicked it, it brought up another black screen, with a lone download link in the bottom left-hand corner.

Rich clicked that too. The download was relatively quick, and a word document opened. It was just a random collage of letters, numbers, and symbols. At the bottom of the document, there was text...English...finally, something he could understand! It stated:
"Read this out loud."
Dumbfounded, he did, several times, before clicking the shut off feature on his computer, as it began to shut down, the power went off. Now alone, in the dark, fearful, and briefly believing the document had something to do with it, rationality kicked in, however, and he tried linking it to a power outage.
Yeah oddly though, as he looked out his window, everyone else in the neighborhood had power...Rich had no idea what to think.
Suddenly, the computer turned on, violently, the speakers all the way up playing a single piano key, and an explosion of various colors showcased itself. Then, it went black, with his heart racing, he got within closer vicinity.
Out of nowhere, a man appeared, as if they were Skyping...but he owned no webcam. This man looked deranged, and mentally unstable. He looked at Rich puzzled, then he cocked his head a few times, and finally directed him to come even closer, which, for some reason, he obliged. The man then uttered one, simple word.
"Boo."
Just then, the house became a madhouse, lights flashing, various electronics spazzing out, etc. Just then it all stopped. All the lights came back on, normally. Rich felt at ease, he then, laid on his bed. As he receded deeper into his dream, he was then awoken by someone....odd....he lived alone...but upon opening his eyes. He knew exactly whom it was...the man from the webcam.
Richard "Rich" Merritt died that evening, apparently from suicide, the time of death was approximately at 9:09 PM.
