All I Need Is You
"You're my best friend Luca!"
I closed my eyes and stroked your soft fur.
"I'll never leave you, no matter what anyone says!"
You remain still and emotionless, like you have all these years. I frowned.
"How come you always have that look on your face? It's so sad. But that's alright. As long as you are here, I don't mind."
After all, all I need is you.
"Oops, I'm sorry Luca! I didn't mean to spill juice on you."
I wiped the juice off of the cafeteria lunch tables and off of you. Despite being dirty, no expression lay on your face. You didn't mind. I felt the other students stare at me. But who cares? As long as you are here, I don't mind. After all, all I need is you.
"Today mommy said I should throw you away. She said you were dirty. No way! I would never do that to you, my precious Luca."
Your glassy eyes stared at me.
"Why the glum face? Oh well. I'll get you to smile one day, I promise. I also promise I won't let anyone take you away from me. Okay?"
I smiled. "I don't need anyone else." After all, all I need is you.
"Mommy and Daddy took me to a therapist today, Luca. They said that I've been spending too much time with you. It doesn't matter to me, though. Nobody will steal you away."
I lifted you up into my arms.
"Will you ever smile Luca? No matter. I promised I'd make you smile. And I keep my promises!"
You smiled a teensy bit. Or maybe I imagined it. But that's alright. After all, all I need is you.
"My gosh Luca! You won't believe what happened today. The therapist tried to grab you out of my hands! But it was okay. Thanks to my me, the therapist won't bother us anymore. But why would they try to separate us? It's just mean. If they took you away, I wouldn't know what to do anymore Luca. I'd be alone."
I patted your head and held you close to me for a few minutes, burying my face in your fur. "No one shall get in my way. After all, all I need is you."
"I didn't want to have to do this, Luca. But now, no one will bother us. Not Mommy, not Daddy, no one. We will live together forever!"
I jumped around and did a little dance with you.
"Together, together, forever, forever!" After a few seconds of dancing, I swear I saw you smile, even if it was only for a few seconds. But a few seconds is good enough for me. I'm glad I kept my promise. I'm also glad everyone else is out of our way. After all, all I need is you.
A Week Later
BREAKING NEWS
Couple were found dead in house, each stabbed 5 times in the chest. A single child was also found alone in the basement cradling a stuffed elephant.
Child was chanting: "All I need is you," over and over again. Tests were done on the child and the results came out that she was mentally insane. The child is now being held in special custody, as a suspect for the murder of the young couple. Stay tuned to find out more!
